Does a squirrel leave on its own?

A squirrel does leave on its own. Typically the stay of a squirrel in an attic is about 4 months in that time you can assume that the mother is pregnant with babies. When you notice squirrel activity in your attic around the spring to late summer you can almost be assured that the mother is with baby squirrels. Now you have several options to consider, but hiring a professional is always the best option as guaranteed humane removal is always the best option available. You can choose to do nothing about it and wait until the family disperses about 4 months later. In the first 10 weeks, squirrel babies are heavily dependent on the mother for their survival.

If you are not comfortable with this idea then you can just leave them as it is. There are consequences attached to these Squirrels that can create a fire hazard by gnawing and chewing on wiring as a way to keep their teeth short. This in return can cause a fuse which can lead to a house fire. Squirrels are the type of critters who make latrines as a way to do their business away from the nest however this concept works only in nature, and it is not very well transferred in an enclosed urban space where the latrine, as well as the nest, are in the same space. This can create a cesspool of different bacteria and can cause diseases to be transferred. Since attics are not one of the best-updated spaces in the house antiquated old flooring can cause urine and feces to seep through the floor which can make the occupants sick. Indirect exposure to feces and urine can cause a range of health issues as they are harmful to people.

Squirrels as earlier mentioned can chew on wiring as a way to keep their teeth in check but this can also extend to the insolation where degradation may take place due to the way and way they defecate or urinate. Having a latrine is not always a safeguard for stains, etc. Considering that there are also babies present the attic at this point may easily be one of the filthiest places in the house. To tackle this issue the best way to go about this is to call up licensed reputable professionals like hiring the technicians from Animal Control Hamilton who have decades of experience and who know the ins and outs of squirrel removal in an ethical way!
